Nightshade

#13: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Synopsis via Goodreads:

Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

New exciting series!!! Romance, wolves, teenage rebellion... this book has everything! Also, I'm a sucker for books with beautiful covers, and boy can you judge this book by its cover! Cremer's novel isn't perfect, but the exciting plot and believable characterization totally make up for the small holes in the action. I did find myself being a little conflicted with the whole love triangle romance. I honestly found both boys that Calla was (or was supposed to be) into kind of annoying at first, but I think by the end of the book I sided with the right one. Calla's brother, Ansel, is so totally my favorite character in the book though. <3 <3 <3 You bet your bones I'll be getting book 2 (Wolfsbane) the day it's released!!
